    Obviously

Obviously it’s still very early days, but I’m a bit disappointed with you guys as readers. Unwilling to participate, bathed in mediocrity, teetering on the brink of neglect… I’m not sure how I’ll be able to cope when the going gets tough. (I’m of course talking about your utterly underwhelming response to my desperate plea for financial assistance).

Despite the fact that I have no money, things are looking up. Today I got timetables etc. for the year to come, and I’ve been signing up to do all sorts of optional extras (worship slots, PA duties etc.) which I probably won’t have time for when it comes down to it. A very exciting year will be had, of that I’ve no doubt, and, I just found out, I get a Christmas holiday from December 19th until January 4th! That’s not bad, now, is it?

Another fairly big commitment for me at the moment is practising for Stewart Ford’s album launch on September 18th. I’ve signed up to play guitar in his band, and he’s really far too clever so I’m a bit nervous, but also pretty excited, because the songs are smashing and hopefully it will be good fun. Incidentally, you should get hold of his album, he’s giving it away for free.

    Any Thoughts…

…as to how I can make some money next year, alongside a 40-hour week of voluntary work?

Genuine ideas for fund-raisers, part-time work etc. are most welcome.

    Since

Since I last wrote to you, I’ve had an impromptu interview with my potential ‘line managers’ for next year, been in a canoe, recorded some cracking music with my friend Chloe, and Spurs have signed van der Vaart, who is both sexy and excellent, so overall I’m quite chuffed. The lowdown is that I’ll get a definite ‘yes’ or ‘no’ regarding Foundations team within the next week. I’m also entitled to use this brief period of time to change my mind, which of course I won’t: as a friend of mine would put it, I’m a stubborn kind of fellow.

    Stupid, stupid, stupid

Immediately, I hear some of my nearest and dearest saying, ‘One Day Robin is a gay name.’ You guys can screw off.

    Hey Hey!

A week ago, it looked like I was another wayward bum trying to sponge enough benefits to see me through what will certainly be a cold, harsh winter. Now, I’ve just printed out an application form for the Foundations year at Woodlands Church (where my dad is somewhat awkwardly the pastor), which will mean spending the next nine or ten months as part of a small team, serving, getting involved and generally trying to soak up as much as possible.

    If they let me onboard.

So, because I can’t function very long without keeping a blog (and, if you’ve known me a while, you’ll know the kind of stress brought on me by the word ‘blog’ and its associated concepts), and because I like having an excuse to share my deepest and darkest secrets with randoms on the internet, I will, for the forseeable future, reside here at One Day Robin, and tell you about how life pans out.
