plug that I wouldn't normally plug
new single by Ahu, given away free (get the 4 track EP for only £1.75), is honestly beautiful and amazing and it’s one song, 3 minutes 49 seconds, the least you could do is listen to it.

the exploits of Charlie Bronson
which are, but perhaps shouldn’t be, very funny indeed
* In 1994, while holding a guard hostage at Woodhill Prison, Milton Keynes, he demanded an inflatable doll, a helicopter and a cup of tea as ransom. Two months later, he held deputy governor Adrian Wallace hostage for five hours at Hull prison, injuring him so badly he was off work for five weeks.
* In 1998, Bronson took two Iraqi hijackers and another inmate hostage at Belmarsh prison in London. He insisted his hostages address him as “General” and told negotiators he would eat one of his victims quickly unless his demands were met. At one stage, Bronson demanded one of the Iraqis hit him “very hard” over the head with a metal tray. When the hostage refused, Bronson slashed his own shoulder six times with a razor blade. He later told staff: “I’m going to start snapping necks – I’m the number-one hostage taker.” He demanded a plane to take him to Cuba, two Uzi sub-machine guns, 5,000 rounds of ammunition, and an axe. In court, he said he was “as guilty as Adolf Hitler”, adding, “I was on a mission of madness, but now I’m on a mission of peace and all I want to do now is go home and have a pint with my son.” Another seven years were added to his sentence.
* In 1999, he took Phil Danielson, a civilian education officer, hostage at Hull prison. He can be seen in CCTV footage singing the song “Yellow Submarine”, walking around with a makeshift spear (after having caused havoc inside the prison) and causing the wing to be locked up for over 40 hours.
* In 2007, two prison staff members at Full Sutton high security prison in the East Riding of Yorkshire were involved in a “control and restraint incident”, in an attempt to prevent another hostage situation, during which Bronson (who now needs spectacles) had his glasses broken. Bronson received £200 compensation for his broken glasses, which he claimed were made of “pre-war gold” and given to him by Lord Longford.

Designer Michael Deal has successfully made me not feel bad for failing to really follow much of this year’s world cup with this impressive infographic poster of the entire tournament, commissioned by Umbro.
Visualizing every pass, shot, and goal of the 2010 World Cup
This piece was designed before these matches were actually played, ready for data to be plugged in on the fly. It was created for Umbro’s blog, then distributed as a limited edition print.

Donald Glover (writer on 30 Rock, actor on Community, member of Derrick Comedy) has been running a small rapping side project under the guise of Childish Gambino.
There’s great hints of a few artists in there such as Pharrell and more that make a really interesting listen from an unexpected source.
He put an album out last month, which you can download for free here.
I love this dude. he’s got everything, and then some.

MARCEL THE SHELL WITH SHOES ON
SNL’s Jenny Slate knows the answer to what it’s like to go on a lunch date with your high-school self, all day-dreamy, acid-riddled, and as yet unfamiliar with the idear that some plans don’t follow the plan. Adorable and sort’ve sad.
funny and yet weirdly heartbreaking. you must watch it.

Carpe Diem!: Dislike - Domo-Kun
I have came to a conclusion to this weird brown-poop-like-creature.
I liked it at first, but now I’m starting to realize that it’s creating a stupid trend throughout many people nowadays. Literally, it’s in so-called “photography” pictures, on 7-11 cups, Sanrio (Hello Kitty Store), there’s even…

Obviously
Obviously it’s still very early days, but I’m a bit disappointed with you guys as readers. Unwilling to participate, bathed in mediocrity, teetering on the brink of neglect… I’m not sure how I’ll be able to cope when the going gets tough. (I’m of course talking about your utterly underwhelming response to my desperate plea for financial assistance).
Despite the fact that I have no money, things are looking up. Today I got timetables etc. for the year to come, and I’ve been signing up to do all sorts of optional extras (worship slots, PA duties etc.) which I probably won’t have time for when it comes down to it. A very exciting year will be had, of that I’ve no doubt, and, I just found out, I get a Christmas holiday from December 19th until January 4th! That’s not bad, now, is it?
Another fairly big commitment for me at the moment is practising for Stewart Ford’s album launch on September 18th. I’ve signed up to play guitar in his band, and he’s really far too clever so I’m a bit nervous, but also pretty excited, because the songs are smashing and hopefully it will be good fun. Incidentally, you should get hold of his album, he’s giving it away for free.

Since
Since I last wrote to you, I’ve had an impromptu interview with my potential ‘line managers’ for next year, been in a canoe, recorded some cracking music with my friend Chloe, and Spurs have signed van der Vaart, who is both sexy and excellent, so overall I’m quite chuffed. The lowdown is that I’ll get a definite ‘yes’ or ‘no’ regarding Foundations team within the next week. I’m also entitled to use this brief period of time to change my mind, which of course I won’t: as a friend of mine would put it, I’m a stubborn kind of fellow.

Hey Hey!
A week ago, it looked like I was another wayward bum trying to sponge enough benefits to see me through what will certainly be a cold, harsh winter. Now, I’ve just printed out an application form for the Foundations year at Woodlands Church (where my dad is somewhat awkwardly the pastor), which will mean spending the next nine or ten months as part of a small team, serving, getting involved and generally trying to soak up as much as possible.
If they let me onboard.
So, because I can’t function very long without keeping a blog (and, if you’ve known me a while, you’ll know the kind of stress brought on me by the word ‘blog’ and its associated concepts), and because I like having an excuse to share my deepest and darkest secrets with randoms on the internet, I will, for the forseeable future, reside here at One Day Robin, and tell you about how life pans out.
